Thankyou for taking the time to learn about me
My name is Kara Large and I am 23 years old, graduating from Deakin University and the Australian Lutheran College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and a Lutheran Strand Vocational Certificate. I am a positive, caring and motivated women who has a strong love of working with children. Over the years I have developed my ability, knowledge and love of teaching and am dedicated to pursuing my career in it.
My schooling began at Mooroolbark East Primary School and then continued to Luther College. It is throughout these years that my love of learning and being in a classroom developed and continued to grow.
Over the years I have surrounded myself in opportunities that have allowed me to learn, grow and be challenged. I have observed and worked collaboratively with a variety of inspiring and experienced teachers in a variety of settings who have acted as role models to me. I would love to teach like they do - with enthusiasm, optimism, a dedication to lifelong learning and a love for teaching. Through these experiences I have learnt that I want to help my students' develop a love of learning, a love of being at school and a love of themselves in their ability to achieve anything they set their minds to. I also want to help my students' develop to become the best people that they can be in all facets of their lives.
Like teaching, I have a passion for travel and service. Having visited a school in Thailand, taught at an Indigenous school in remote Northern Territory and volunteered at a school in Cambodia, I learnt about other cultures, developed a deeper appreciation for my life and deepened my understanding of the importance of a thorough education. I would love for my students to learn this as well and would love to set up links with other schools and students all around the world in order for them to be able to do so.
I also love to be creative and keep fit and healthy. I have participated in a wide variety of activities throughout my life including netball, basketball, long distance running, painting classes, dance classes, drama productions and much more. Thus I understand the importance of students' engaging in extra curricula activities to further their education but also to develop their skills and knowledge which are both essential to life and pursuing areas of interest.
