professional learning
"If you dare to teach, then you must dare to learn"
-Harry Wong
Like students, teachers are constantly learning and there are always new and different ways to approach things. There are various ways teachers can engage in professional learning and the National Professional Standards for Teachers act as guide for teachers in identifying their specific professional learning needs.
Throughout my studies and placement I have engaged in professional learning through Professional Development sessions, conversations with supervising teachers and other teachers about effective practices, team level meetings, assessment moderation and school cluster meetings. Each of these have helped to develop my skills and knowledge in teaching and learning as well as helped me to develop the skill of reflective practice.
"Kara sat in our staff briefings and level 3 professional learning team meeting as well as curriculum meeting for numeracy"
-D. Mcherney, Croydon Hills Primary School, 2012.
Below is a University assignment that helped me to identify the areas that I needed to develop my knowledge and experience in. It is a comparison of my experiences and knowledge against the AITSL Graduate Standards.
